I WON!!

A few weeks ago I entered a contest over at Jenn’s Blog and I would like to tell you all that I won!! This was a very simple contest to enter, all you needed to do was do a blog post about what you are most thankful for and let Jenn know where she could find your post. Then yesterday she picked a post that she liked and seriously much to my surprise, I won!! Because Jenn is such a nice person, the prize that she was giving away was some scented products, but if you live in Canada (which I do) she will substitute the prize for a gift certificate from an online store. So, I received my email from her today telling me I won! I’m totally excited about this and invite you all to stop by Jenn’s Site to see when she has another contest up and running. You can bet I’ll be one of the first ones to enter!!

Thanks Jenn!!

Still sick!!

I honestly thought my daughter was getting better so I sent her to school yesterday.  Big mistake!!  She did OK during the day, but after school during her violin practice she got sicker again.  When I went to get her at the school she informed me that both her and her father tried to call me to come pick her up but there was no answer.  There was no answer because I was already on my way to get her.  So, I have decided to keep her home from school for at least today and tomorrow.  Tomorrow night she goes back to the doctor so I guess we will see if she is getting any better than from last week.  I honestly have never seen somebody have such a hard time getting over phenomena and I do feel really bad for her.  Hopefully he will be able to tell me what is going on with her and we will be able to get her back on the road to recovery.

Weekend plans

It’s Friday so yes, that means the weekend has finally arrived again.  We have a pretty big weekend planned again for this weekend.  As long as my daughter is feeling up to it, we will be headed out to our annual Santa Clause parade tomorrow night.  I haven’t heard the weather yet, but I’m really hoping that it’s not too cold.  Then on Sunday my husband’s father has invited us up for supper.  I think he is still pretty lonely and likes to have the kids around to keep him busy and give him something to do.  Today is Friday, but the kids don’t have any school today (parent teacher meetings), so today will be a rest and relaxation day for all of us.  Hopefully with this restful day, everyone will be feeling up to participating in our very busy weekend.

Business is booming

Many of you may not be aware that I have just recently started a brand new home crafting business over at Simply Crafting. So far things are going a little slow, but business has started to pick up. A little over a month ago a friend of mine commissioned me to make her a quilt. Well I am happy to report that this quilt is almost finished and I did give my friend a sneak peak of her quilt. She loves it!! She loves it so much, that she has already asked me to make her TWO more before May 1. Because of the type of quilt it is, I already agreed to these two quilts in this time frame.

So, I am extremely happy to report that business is picking up. I also have a knitted afghan on the go that I will eventually be selling as well as trying my hand at home made jewelry. So, although right now the orders coming in are kind of slow, I have no doubt that very soon business will be booming.

Very long….weekend

I honestly can’t tell you all how happy I was this morning to realize that this very long weekend was finally over.  We had a very busy weekend, but it was extremely long….as the kids fought all weekend!   I’m not kidding.  The only time that they weren’t fighting was when they were sleeping and I’m pretty sure that they were both dreaming about fighting. lol  I always thought that as the kids got older, the fighting would decrease but this doesn’t seem to be the case.  My son who is 7 is an extreme agitator and my daughter who is 9 seriously over reacts to everything he does.  So, this is why I was so….happy to see today finally arrive.  They will be in school for at least six hours, and that’s six hours of peace that I didn’t have over the weekend.  Hopefully when they get home from school they will be in better spirits and be back in love. lol  I can always dream right??

The violin came home

When my daughter got off the school bus yesterday, she was so proud. In her hand’s, she had her own violin. Actually it’s the schools, but for the year, this will be the violin that she plays on and learns on. Last night she was in her room and she was practicing. She informed me that she was really happy that she got into the program and very happy that she didn’t quit when she was thinking about it. So now that the violin is home and in her room, I think she will practice like she is suppose to and I honestly can’t wait to hear her progress over the next few months.

Off to the doctor’s

Over the past weekend and the last couple of days, my youngest son has not been feeling the best.  He has been coughing quite constantly without really bringing anything up.  The thing with doctor’s around here is that they won’t do a thing for a cough unless it settles into your chest.  Well, I’m pretty sure that the cough has settled there as now when he coughs he is throwing up.  So, it’s off to the doctor’s this afternoon for him.  The one good thing about our family doctor is that I don’t usually call them unless it’s an absolute emergency, so when I do call they know it’s important and they get me right in.  That is what happened today.  I called and they told me to bring him down later this afternoon.  So hopefully soon, he will get some medicine and then be on the road to recovery.

They went skating!

The kids in our area are extremely fortunate to have access to our local rink during school time. Every year each class goes skating at the rink at least four times. With two kids in school, that means eight (early) trips to the rink each season. This year I was really lucky and both of the kids first skates were yesterday morning. For the first time in three years, both of their classes were on the ice together. The kids were really excited about the thoughts of this and they had made plans to skate together the entire time they were on the ice. This didn’t happen. My daughter is a faster skater than my son so she kept taking off on him. But that was OK with him as he has a blast skating by himself. I did manage to get them together for one picture so I was happy. Thankfully I took the picture when I did, as five minutes later my son fell on the ice, hurt his head and was done skating for the day. (He is OK). This opportunity won’t come again this year, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it may happen again next year.
