He’s been a bear

For the past week I swear I’ve been living with a bear. In the past 15 years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen my husband in this type of foul mood for so long. First I thought it may have something to do with the fact that last Thursday was his birthday and he was not looking forward to getting older, then I thought it may have to do with the fact that it was his first birthday without his mother. But because it has gone on for so long, I’m not sure what to think any more. Honestly guys I’m thinking about taking him to one of the Branson resorts just to get away. Maybe with a little rest and relaxation I’ll have my husband back and not the bear that I am currently living with.

His first birthday party without “mommy”

Oh my little man is growing up!  Today he was invited to a birthday party and for the very first time, my husband or I didn’t stay.  So he went to his first birthday party by himself.  My husband drove him (I didn’t know where to go) and then I went to pick him up (with directions from my husband).  And…he did great!  Daniel is quite a shy child, so I guess that’s why I have a tendency to overprotect him.  But he has to grow up sometime so I had to let him spread his wings.  I was actually quite surprised at myself, as I was extremely calm when I sent him on his way.  He did good and is looking forward to the next party on his own.

Oh man.  It doesn’t take them long to want independence after they have had a little taste of freedom now does it??

I’m not much of a travelor

Funny story. True story. Last month I had to go out out of town to attend a friends wedding. You will never guess what I forgot to take?! Yes, if you guessed travel supplies, then you guessed right. Oh I had all the essentials such as clothing and stuff, but I really shocked myself at what I didn’t bring. I don’t normally go away from home very often, so this is the excuse I’m using. Now if I did travel a lot, you can be that I would have all my supplies packed up and never unpacked unless I’m using them on a trip. Oh well, live and learn. That’s my motto.

He went for tests

So my husband hasn’t been feeling that well for the past month now.  He has been up to the out patients twice now and both times sent home with test scheduled.  The first set of tests he as unable to attend as he got called into work, but this morning he did go for the second set that were scheduled.

The thing is, my husband never goes to the doctor’s.  So for him to go, plus go for the tests, he must be in a lot more pain than he is letting on.  So, now it’s a wait and see game.  It can take up to two weeks for his family doctor to get the results so we will have to wait this out.  But at least he went and now hopefully we can find out what is wrong and get it fixed.

Working out is not for me

Last night I went to the gym to have a little workout. A friend of mine got me a free pass at their gym for a week so I figured that I would at least go down and see what it is all about. They have so much equipment that it’s a little overwelming for a person like me who doesn’t know the difference between a stepper and ellipticals. But I did try a few pieces of the machinery. I walked out of the gym with one thought. And that thought was that I can’t see myself ever going back there. I just didn’t enjoy the atmosphere and I think I would get a better workout from home. So I guess I’ll keep moving towards my own home gym.

Things are looking up!

Last night I got a call from a lady I used to work for requesting some information on the quilts that I make and sell.  So I gave her the lowdown on the prices, the different types of quilts and the different sizes.  Well I have to tell you all that I was quite speechless when she asked if I could make her THREE queen sized quilts by Christmas.  Yes, I can do the work, but it’s a pretty tall order.  Not only did she agree with my original prices but she also stated that if I can have these quilts done by Christmas she will throw in a small bonus.

So, I bet your wondering what my answer was, aren’t you?  I said yes.  So now I have quite a bit of quilting to do.  But I don’t mind.  Once all these items are finished, I’m going to see a pretty good pay check.  And, just in time for the holiday season!  I can’t believe that I’m going to say this, but I hope no one else wants a quilt any time soon.

When I retire

I’m really hoping that when I retire (yes, I do plan on going back to work at some point), I will be able to afford a second home that could be used as a summer home. I would love to have a separate place where it’s warmer for the entire family to be able to get together during the summer months. I realize that when kids get older they usually go their own separate ways, and I think having a second home would encourage them to stay closer to one another and their parents. Right now this is just a pipe dream, but you never know what the future may hold and maybe this dream just may come true.

He’s a pretty good guy

For all my little complaints about my husband, I have to say that he’s a pretty good guy. We met almost 15 years ago and at that time I had a five year old son. He took on the role of “dad” and has spent the last 15 years raising him. He did the best he could in this situation. So it really didn’t surprise me when my oldest son called last night to inform us that he is entering himself into a drug rehab center and my husband was extremely concerned for him. As I explained to him, this might be the best thing for our son and hopefully when he gets out, he will appreciate his family a little bit more. It’s been a rough 15 years with this kid, but hopefully the worst is over.

Skating rink

This morning when I drove the kids to the bus stop, I was quite dismayed to see all the ice that was around our area.  It rained a lot yesterday and last night.  So, it rained away all the snow and all that is left is a massive amount of ice.  The kids thought this was just great!  Although I kept telling them to be careful, kids will be kids.  The had a blast waiting for the bus.  They never stopped skating around on their boots and I was actually quite surprised that my son didn’t ask me to go home and get his skates and helmet.  I’m quite sure he may bring this up after school.  But the ice isn’t smooth and it wouldn’t be a very good idea.

But, as long as they are careful I guess I’ll let them have their fun.  The only thing is that now I won’t get out of my car as I am terrified of falling on my back side.  Oh to be a kid again. lol

I was surprised

My husband was reading an article yesterday about body building and legal steroids and I was quite surprised to hear that some types of steroids are legal. I guess I really never thought too much about this fact, as I don’t use steroids and never will. But, that’s just me. On the other hand, my husband has just starting getting into working out, body building and all of the aspects of this particular lifestyle. So finding out that there are legal stuff out there as an option for him to take if he wishes, intrigued him quite a bit. I don’t know if he will ever get heavily into this lifestyle, but the information was well received by him.
