He’s growing up

My youngest son is only seven, but I see everyday how fast he is growing up. Yesterday he came home from school with a test that he did on telling time which he got 100% on. Because he did so well on this test, he now thinks that he needs to have a watch of his own. So I’m thinking about getting him one for his birthday and one of the styles that I’m looking at for him is a Technomarine watch. I know it’s probably a little advanced for him, but with the way he is maturing, I don’t think it will be any time at all before he is mature enough for this type of watch.

He is starting to worry me

If you all knew my husband, you would understand my concern.  He absolutely refuses to go to the doctor’s.  Honesty his foot could be half off and he wouldn’t step foot inside of  doctor’s office.  And getting him to go to the outpatience at the hospital is darn near impossible.   So, this is why I am so worried.

For the past three weeks he has been suffering from serious stomach troubles.  And yes, I have been bugging him to either go to the doctor’s or the hospital to get checked out.  And of course he has refused.  Well this morning when he woke me up, he informed me that last night, late in the night, he went to the hospital.  He couldn’t stand the pain any longer.  So this is why I’m so worried.  If he will go to the hospital on his own, then he is definitely in pain.

We still don’t know what is the matter with him as the hospital wants to run a series of tests and he is in so much pain that he has agreed to go.  This must be quite serious or at least he thinks it is or he wouldn’t have went up.  So I guess it’s a wait and see game now, but I’m glad that he went.  It’s better to find out what’s going on and fix it than live in constant pain.

Wishing my life away

I know I really shouldn’t be wishing my life away, but honestly the weather that we have seen this winter and continue to see is driving me crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much snow, rain, wet and cold ever in my lifetime and it is starting to depress me. I really wish I could afford to take a royal caribbean cruise and just get away from it all. I guess the only good thing that I can say about the weather these days is the fact that I know that spring is on it’s way and the worst is over. So I’m going to stop wishing my life away and just look forward to the day when spring does actually arrive.

I’m getting so….old

Over the past couple of days I have discovered that I’m starting to get old. When I was trying to thread some beads while trying to create jewelry, I discovered that I couldn’t see the little holes any more. Even when I put on my glasses. I really think I’m going to need to invest in a magnifier. I didn’t notice this problem last week so I am kind of wondering why it came about all of a sudden. Oh well, I guess I’m going to just have to go see my eye doctor and see about getting a new prescription. Hopefully I will only need a new prescription, and this is not a sign of worse things to come.

Jeweler’s Block

What is this, do you ask?  Well it goes along the same lines as “writer’s block”.  Right now I have a serious problem.  For the life of me, I can’t think of a single piece of jewelry to create.  I have tons and tons of supplies, so that is not the problem.  It’s just that I have made so many necklaces and bracelets, that I’m having a real difficult time trying to come up with a new theme for another one.  It’s a shame actually as the more pieces of jewelry I make, the bigger the profit is for me.  But even knowing that everyday that I don’t create I don’t make any money, isn’t helping me out here either.

So, what do you all do when you have a “block” of some kind??  Do you just walk away for a period of time (which I have done for the past two weeks) or do you digging around for some inspiration?  I would really love to hear your thoughts on my most serious problem.

Their home again!

Although it’s not snowing or we are not facing a major snowstorm today, the kids are home from school again today due to icy roads and major flooding conditions. Who in the world has ever heard about flooding in the middle of winter? I’ve been telling you all winter about our crazy weather this year and this just goes to prove my point!

My daughter was extremely upset this morning that they closed school. Because it is Valentine’s day, the kids both had a lot of activities planned at school for today and now all their plans are cancelled. So this is why she was so upset. She’s OK with it now, but there for awhile I was wondering if I should start drinking and then enter myself into alcohol rehab center just to get away from all the crying and screaming. It is a shame, but hopefully they will be back in school tomorrow and will be able to do all their Valentine’s activities then.

We got what they were calling for….and so much more!

Well I have to say that the weatherman was right on the money yesterday when he predicted that we were going to get the worst storm of the season today.  This morning when we woke up, it hadn’t begun but the schools did close for the day in anticipation of the big storm ahead of us.  Around 8:00 am it hit.  At times it was snowing so hard that you couldn’t even see out your window.  Then the freezing rain started and now it’s raining.  Although we haven’t gotten all the snow they are predicting, it’s not over yet as there is still a winter storm advisory in effect.

As far as the weather goes, really the only bad thing about it is the fact that my husband still had to go to work.  So he was and still is driving around in all this mess.  Thankfully the kids or I didn’t have to go out in it.  Hopefully things will calm down long enough for him to get home and then I really don’t care what Mother Nature throws our way.  My only concern is that if it doesn’t stop soon, the kids will be home again tomorrow.

Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Storm day tomorrow

Will this winter never end??  This has been the absolute worst winter ever.  We have never seen this much snow in the past twenty years that we have had to endure this year.  And because of all this snow, the kids have missed a lot of school time.  Well it looks like we have another major snow storm headed our way.

The weatherman is calling for 20 t0 30 centimeters of snow before it turns to ice pellets and then finally rain.  If we get the nasty weather they are calling for, you can bet the kids won’t have school tomorrow.  Even on the radio the announcers have been commenting about the enormous amount of snow that we have been getting this season.  And, they are predicting a lot of flooding this spring if this weather doesn’t let up.  So, I’ll let you all know if we do in fact get what they are calling for and if we do, I’ll let you know if we survived.   If the snowstorms don’t do me in, having the kids home so much this past winter will. lol

One of my son’s dreams

Although my son is only seven, he is a serious rodeo fan. Every weekend he is glued to the TV watching different rodeos and has expressed a serious interest in attending one in person. This is so out of character for him, as normally he is sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons. But, if you tell him there is a show about a rodeo on TV, he is quick to change the channel. So, I swear, one of these days I am going to take him to see a rodeo show up close and personal and if I can get cheap National Finals Rodeo tickets that will be the event that I will take him to.

As most of the rodeos that he watches are from the US and we live in Canada, I will have to save quite a bit of money for the tickets, cost of getting to the location and accommodations. So taking him to a show this year or next may not be in the cards, I will save up the money to be able to give him this trip of a lifetime. And, when I do have all this money saved up, I am going to purchase the tickets online so I can be assured of getting the best possible seats possible for my young son. Honestly, if I can pull this off, he will be the happiest kid on this earth. Now all I need to do is start saving money. Until then, he will have to be content with watching the events on TV and pretending that he is there.

They are so excited!!

My two younger kids enjoy celebrating anyones birthday.  Not just their own.  Their father’s birthday will be here on Thursday and I swear they are more excited about this event than he is.  For the past couple of weeks they have been making all sorts of birthday decorations and hiding them from him.  For quite awhile now my son (who is 7) has been saving his money to buy his father a present (he saved $12.00) and they have plans for a major party for him.

So yesterday the kids talked me into taking them shopping for a present for their father.  It was actually quite cute as he drove us to the store, but they would not allow him to come into the store.  So after a little looking around they each bought him a couple of tools.  Even though he has tons of tools, these presents will probably mean the most to him in life as these presents were bought with the kid’s own money.  Now their just counting down the days.
