Update on the report cards

Yesterday the kids came home from school with their report cards in their bookbags.  First of all let me say that they both did awesome!!  The teachers were very pleased with their progress this term and they had no serious problems at all.

My son’s (grade 2) was pretty much what I expected.  I knew he was having a little trouble in his spelling so her mentioning that didn’t surprise me at all.  But what did surprise me, was how well he is doing in math!  His math skills are above the grade 2 level.  Awesome!!  Now all we have to do is work on that spelling.  Other than the spelling and the fact that he’s a lot like me (he likes to talk, hehe), everything was great.

Now my daughter (grade 4) did excellent!!  She got five A’s and one B.  Super!!  Her teacher was highly impressed with her work as she did miss quite a bit of time this term due to a serious illness.  So her teacher was amazed that she did so well considering all that she missed.

I’ve got to tell you all that we were so impressed with the kids grades and performance this past term that we took them out last night and let them pick out a toy.  My son asked us why we were buying them a toy because of good report cards when normally they only get a reward if they grade.  I told him it was because of the AWESOME job they both have done and because we were so proud of them, we decided they deserved a reward.  He was fine with that line of thinking.

Can’t you tell that I’m one proud momma?!

What a coinkydink. I have a son in 2nd grade and a daughter in 4th as well!
Congrats on the good report cards. It’s always such a good feeling when your kids do well. My son’s weakness is writing of all things. He calls it his “enemy.” But he excels at math so I’m not exactly complaining.

I’m crossing my fingers for you that they stay along those lines of success until they graduate from High School… I don’t think we can wish for much during the college years.
