I couldn’t believe it was her

It’s been over 20 years since I have seen my best friend from high school. Just out of the blue she called me last week and wanted to get together to re-connect. Although the phone call was a major surprise, I did jump at the chance to get to see her again. So you can imagine my major astonishment when I seen her at the coffee shop. When we were in high school she was a bit overweight and I couldn’t believe the weight loss she had achieved. I haven’t changed all that much since high school, but she certainly has. She looks great and feels great! Now that we’ve re-connected, we are both going to do everything in our power not to lose touch again.

I’ve lost my children!

No, not really. lol  I know where their at.  Their at their grandfather’s.

Last night they stayed the night at their grandfathers.  Although I wasn’t sure if they would stay since they have never been away from home overnight, they stayed!  Matter of fact I just got a phone call from them that they had a blast and asked if they could spend the day with him and stay another night.

So, to recap.  The kids stayed at grampie’s and apparently had a blast.  They didn’t drive my father in law seriously nuts or he wouldn’t have agreed to another night and…my husband and I get another night together without children underfoot.  It’s a win-win situation all the way around.

I can’t tell you how pleased I am with this outcome as it means possibly more sleepovers in the future.  We will just have to wait and see won’t we.  Until then, I’ll just enjoy the peace and quiet that is my household today.

Their going away!

Yeah!!  Both of the kids are going to a sleep over tonight.  They have both agreed to go to their grandfather’s for the night.  And if your wondering if this is a huge deal, yes it is!  My daughter is 9 and has only been away over night once (when she was 8 months old) and my son who is seven has NEVER slept away from home.  So yes, this is a HUGE step for both of them.  He wanted them to stay the night this past Sunday but neither one would because they didn’t have any of their stuff.  So you can bet that I’m going to make sure to pack everything they could ever need in life to ensure that they enjoy their sleep over and then they may possibly do this again.

If everything goes right, their grandfather will pick them up shortly before supper and then when my husband gets home from work, we will be able to go out to dinner.  Oh man, I almost forget what it’s like to have dinner out without two little people fidgeting around.  And then for the first time in nine years I’m going to get an excellent night’s sleep without worrying about whether one or two kids will be getting up in the middle of the night.

But, if things go like they normally do in my life I can expect a phone call that one or both of them will want to come home and I’ll be driving down the road at midnight to pick them up.  Oh well, wish me luck and I’ll be sure to let you all know how Grampie and the kids make out on their little adventure.

Retirement party

Although I don’t work at any job right now, I was just recently invited to a retirement party for one of the ladies that I used to work with at my old job. This woman is in her early 60’s and is definitely looking forward to a new chapter in her life. So to celebrate this milestone, I have decided to purchase her a Teaposy Blooming Tea Set. Not only does this type of gift make for a very unique gift, but it’s a super gift to give anyone who has everything.

One of the things that I love about this site where I will purchase this very unique gift is their wonderful inventory of great gift ideas. They have such a wide variety of gifts listed on their site, that I am positive that anyone would be able to find a unique gift for any person in their life. And because all their prices are extremely reasonable, any one can afford to utilize this site.

Elton John coming to town??

Well this is the latest rumor that is going around our area.  The rumor being that Elton John is coming to our fair city sometime in the summer.  IF this rumor is true, you can bet that I’m going to part with my hard earned dollars and be one of the first ones to get some tickets.  I don’t normally get too excited when I hear of a performer coming to our area, but come on now this is ELTON JOHN.  I don’t normally purchase tickets and would rather just buy the albums and stay home, but if in fact this is true, this is definitely one exception I am going to make.  And…I even have my husband talked into going.  This is a major feat all in itself, as he never wants to go anywhere.

So I just sit back and listen to the radio for any more updates and when I hear for a fact that this man is coming, I will be hauling out the credit card.  This will definitely be a once in a life time deal and I seriously would be kicking myself until my final days on earth if I did not take advantage of this unique situation.

Can you tell I’m a HUGE fan??!

It’s that time of year again

It seems like all our bills come out at the same time of year. My car insurance, my husband’s Van Insurance, our home insurance and both of our life insurance policies are due this month. Both my husband and I have separate insurance companies and I’m really starting to think that this is probably costing us quite a bit. So, because he is not real fond of change, I have decided that this year I am going to switch my insurance policies over to his company and hopefully save us some money in the future.

He has been with the same insurance company for the past 16 years and I have only been dealing with mine for about the past five. So it would only make sense for me to be the one to switch. I have had no problems with my current company, but if I can save some money by switching over, then this is what I really need to do. So I’ve been doing some research to try to bundle all our insurance coverage and I should know within the next day or two whether this will be feasible or not. If it’s not than I guess we will stick with our current situation and deal with two different companies. But I do think that our insurance costs could be reduced dramatically by going with just one company.

Adding more features

Well now that I am happy and content with the amount of blogs that I post on daily and for once am happy with all the themes that I have chosen for each blog, I have decided that it’s now time to start working on gaining some readership to my sites.  The first thing I did was to add entrecard to all my blogs and I’m very happy with this decision.

So today I started working on my feed subscriptions.  I must say that I was actually surprised at myself.  I only had two blogs listed in feed burner.  Well I guess that would explain why I have no subscribers. lol  So if you notice a little piece of text on my sidebar that invites you to subscribe, then that’s what I’m talking about.

It’s completely up to you, but if you enjoy my posts and would like to get no info as I post it then I’m sending out a personal invitation to subscribe.  And just to let you know, I will never spam you or sell your information as the biggest thing on the Internet that drives me insane is spam e-mails.  And I would never do it to someone else.

Getting ready for Spring

With Spring right around the corner and all the mud and muck looming a head of us, it’s time for me to start thinking about purchasing both of the kids a new set of Rain Boots. The ones they had last year are way to small for them and because my daughter insisted on having pink Rainboots, I can’t even pass hers down to my youngest son.

My daughter is getting to the age where she only wants “the best” in clothing and footwear and she has already mentioned the fact that she wants a Burberry Rain Boot for this Spring. Thankfully my son isn’t quite so picky and he will take anything I give him as long as it’s “boy colors”. So before the mud and the muck officially arrive, I’m off to purchase some new rain boots for both the kids.

He loves his grand kids

Yesterday we went to dinner at my father in law’s.  Yes, it stopped snowing and we were able to attend.  Well after dinner my father in law informed the kids that he bought a new game for the computer.  The game he bought was Sponge Bob Square Pants.  So obviously this game was not for him.  He is so cute.  He is always looking for little things to buy the kids and it makes them so happy when he does these small little things for him.

So he set up the game for them to play and then he sat down and played the game with them.  It is so sweet to watch him with the kids and I know that they get just as much enjoyment out of this as they do.  Since  my husband’s mother passed away in September, his father has been pretty lonely and spending time with the kids is one of the ways that he uses to help him to not be so lonely.  So they left their game at his house so the next time they go down to visit him, they will be able to play with him again.

Pretty neat idea

Although I haven’t personally been involved in any accidents of any kind, I have a few friends that have a I know what kind of financial disaster it was too them. Not only were they out of work for a very long time and lost quite a bit of income due to this, but they also had to wait quite a while for any settlement to come in so they could get the help they needed on their every day expenses. It would have been great for them if they knew about this company where they could have received some lawsuit funding to help them get money right away.

This company helps you get money sooner than waiting for settlements so you have the money you need when you need it and not months or even years down the road. A couple of my friends actually lost their houses due to these financial hardships and if they had of visited this company, this wouldn’t have happened. Hopefully I’m never involved in any type of accident, but it is nice to know that there is this type of help available if needed.
