The future is scary

In less than a month I will be turning 40. And I have to say that I can’t ever remember in my life time people having so many addiction problems and communities needing so many drug rehabs as we need now. It seems like every time you hear the news or pick up a newspaper someone has done something quite serious because of drug addictions. This really scares me. I have two small children that I am trying to bring up right and with so many temptations out there now, I honestly get frightened thinking about what troubles they could find themselves in. I realize that we need all these drug rehab centers, but sometimes I do sit and wonder how many more we will end up needing in the near future.

We got pledges!

Yesterday after school I took my daughter around the neighborhood to get some pledges for her upcoming fiddle-a-thon that will take place this Saturday.  We only ended up going to three houses as most of the people we know weren’t home.  And, the other people in the neighborhood don’t know Kara so I didn’t want to ask them to pledge her.  But she did good.  The three houses that we did go to, gave her pledges.  Between this and family members, she did quite well for her first time asking for pledges.  Now on Saturday she needs to play for 200 minutes to earn these pledges.  But she is having fun with the entire experience and that’s the main thing.

A new and improved ranking system

If you’ve been blogging for any length of time, then you are definitely aware of the term Google page rank and what it means. But, if your just starting out in the blogging world, then this term may not be familiar to you. In a nutshell what Google page rank is SUPPOSE (notice the capital letters? I’ll explain further) to be an indication by Google on how popular your site is in the Internet market place. The ranking system goes from 0 to 10. With 0 being the lowest page rank that a person can have. But, this ranking system is completely outdated and honestly doesn’t give you any indication of your true rank in the blogging or Internet industry.

This is where Izea Ranks come into play. One of the companies that I do paid posting for designed and created Izea Ranks just for bloggers. Basically what Izea ranks stand for is your true ranking compared to other blogs on the Internet. They take a lot of factors into consideration when determining what your “real rank” is. They take into account the number of visitors you get each day, the amount of page veiws you get in the run of a day, and other factors come into play as well.

Because of the fickleness of Google, you could have a really good site with lots of traffic, but still rank 0 because you do some things that Google doesn’t approve of. But with Izea ranks, your rank is determined by the traffic to your site so you know it’s a true number. One of the things that I like about the Izea ranks is the fact that you don’t have to work for this company to find out what your real rank is. As long as you register your blog it will be compared against other blogs and you will be given a true number.

So, if you were hit by the “Google smack” that so many of us were (myself included) then I strongly urge you to drop by Izea and find out what your “real rank” is.

Busy creating

As you all know I am trying to get a home crafting business up and running. I have a couple of things in the works as far as sales go, but I needed to have more inventory on hand if these ideas of mine are going to work. So for the past five days I have been busy creating new pieces. And all you lucky folks get to see a sneak peek of what I have been up to.

These pieces are a little more complex than what I normally make and they did take me a bit more time than it usually takes, but I honestly believe the end results is so totally worth it. So take a peek at what I’ve been up to lately and please let me know what you all think.

Crappy day today

Well it’s the weekend and the weather outside is pretty crappy.  The kids won’t be able to go outside today as it’s pouring rain and it’s really quite cold out.  So I have to find them something to do in the house.  Two little people between the ages of 9 and 7 can get bored quite easily and it can sometimes be quite a chore to find things to keep them busy.  But, I think I have come up with a solution.  I have hooked up their computer for them to play some online games on. The only problem with this solution is there is only one computer, so that means a little bit of fighting. But we will see if my idea works.

Update on jewelry sales

This was going to be a very short post. lol  I haven’t had any luck with online sales.  I was then going to cry and sign off.  But one little e-mail changed all that.  No it’s not a sale, but it is the possibility of some sales.  A lady contacted me about doing some drop shipping for her.  That would mean me as the creator wouldn’t have to worry about sales and her the seller would find people to purchase my products.  I would have to pay her a small fee of course, but I honestly don’t mind this if it gets my products sold.

So over the weekend I have to create some unique pieces and then at the first of the week I’ll send the pics along with all the information to her and see how it goes.  At this point it certainly can’t hurt.  And maybe, just maybe, I’ll be able to pop back in here with a smile on my face saying I got my first sale.  Fingers crossed everyone and wish me luck.

I’m going to have to do something

It’s been almost a year since I quit my full time job to become a stay at home and boy do my savings accounts ever reflect that. I’m going to have to do something drastic here if my accounts don’t start to fatten up again. I have never been this broke and I know it’s because of the loss of income plus loss of tips. My husband is not concerned about this sitauation at all, but I am and I think soon, I’m going to have to do something about it.

He’s turning himself around

I am so happy for my best friend. Yesterday I got a phone call from her telling me of the amazing progress that her son is achieving. There for a while she was quite worried about him as it looked like he was headed down a very dangerous path. Having an older son of my own who has made some pretty stupid choices in life I could relate well. But, according to her he is ff the drugs and alcohol and looks like he may not need to enter an alcohol rehab center after all. Hopefully he can stay clean and sober on his own and turn his life around. So far he’s doing really well. For her sake as well as his, I really hope this trend continues.

It was the girl’s turn

As yesterday was another nice spring day, all warm and sunny, when my husband got home from work, he decided that he would take the four wheeler out for a little spin.  Since the last few times that he has gone he has taken the little guy, he asked Kara if she would like to go this time.  She doesn’t go nearly as much as Daniel but every once in a while she enjoys a ride.

So, off they went (with a few complaints from my son).  They weren’t gone very long but when she hopped off the bike she said that he had fun.  One of my son’s favorite parts about riding on the bike is the fact that they get so muddy, that was her least favorite part. lol  She ran in the house stripped and then insisted on having a bath to rid herself of all the mud.  Had that been Daniel, he would have wanted to stay in his muddy clothes forever.

But, she had fun and isn’t that what biking is all about??

It must be because I’m getting older

Growing up, I never knew what it was like to experience a headache. And..when other’s started talking about migraines, it seemed like a foreign word to me. Unfortunately that isn’t the case any longer. I don’t know if this is because I am getting older or what, but over the past couple of years I have been experiencing some massive migraine headaches. When I feel one coming on, I can’t get to my medication fast enough. I have heard about a different type of product called Botox for migraines and I really have to wonder if it works any better than what I currently take. If it does, I’m seriously going to think about investing in it.

I can feel one coming on now so I think I’ll step away from the computer for a while. See you all later.
