It starts with a worn out washer but as the water constantly flows through the gap in the washer it wears a groove in the metal which then requires the use of a re-seating tool to grind a few millimetres of metal away, giving the washer a completely flat surface to seal against. The longer it's left, the bigger the job will become. As for 'nagging' your husband - I know nothing that will be less effective. Yes, he should have fixed it already and shouldn't need you to be on his case but nagging won't really help. In a quiet moment try asking him if there's anything you can do to help him get the job done.
