We met the new woman

My father in law dropped a massive bomb on the entire family earlier this month.  A lady that he has just started seeing this past couple of months and himself have decided to get married.  This was a bomb not only because it had only been 8 months since his wife of 48 years passed away, but no one  in the family had met her.  So we were all a little skeptical as to what was taking place.

This past weekend he brought her to our house to meet my husband and I and the kids.  Last week she had met my sister in law.  I really have to say that I was quite surprised when I met her.  She seemed to be a really nice lady and seems to really care for my father in law.  So although they haven’t known one another very long, I am more optimistic that this relationship will work out.  Time will tell I guess.

    Hi,

Personaly, I would find this very difficult to have
    to go through this situation.

I’m so glad it never happened in my own family.

My mother-in-law died a year ago this past May. My father-in-law was dating another woman by Father’s Day. By July 4th they were engaged and in September they married. It’s been an adjustment, to say the least.

It’s great that you are keeping an open mind. After being married for so long, I’m sure he has a harder time being alone. If this woman makes him happy, that’s all that counts. Keep an eye on her though.

I have seen this happen with some people from our church. They lost a spouse and then remarried before the year was out. I think they see how short life is and maybe that is why they are in a hurry to dive into another relationship. I hope it works out for your father.

I haven’t been through that before but I know my cousins have and it’s been hard on them too. I hope that things will work out for you.
