New year…new style

Who else besides myself are having a hard time believing that the end of 2008 is now in sight?? Do you guys have any plans to go out tonight or are you staying in? Well our family is staying in tonight. With my husband on call, we are pretty much limited to what we can do. But I’m sure it will be a great new year’s eve any way.

Well with the end of 2008, 2009 is coming rushing in. Did you happen to make any new year’s resolutions this year? I did. But I only made one. My new year’s resolution is to become a more healthier and better looking me. And, my first step that I’ve decided to take is to purchase some new eyeglasses. I have decided to make my purchase from Zenni Optical. After browsing their site, I have found a lot of different styles that interest me very much. And with prices starting at only $8.00 a pair, I’m bound to find a pair that I not only will look good in, but a pair that I will be able to afford quite easily.

In the past I really haven’t kept any of my new year’s resolutions, but after seeing what this site has to offer with their many Holiday frames, I am quite confident that I will be able to keep this resolution. So after I make my purchase, get my hair cut and dyed I will have fulfilled my new year’s resolution of a better looking me.

My car failed inspection

Well last week I took my car down to my local Canadian Tire store to get it’s annual inspection. I honestly thought it would pass as I had to put a pile of money into it last year and I haven’t really drove it very much this past year. Well let me tell you that I was a bit surprised (that’s putting it mildly) when they informed me that my car failed and I was going to need several new parts on it to get it to pass. So I told them to just put the rejection sticker on it and give me the parts list. I gave the list to my husband and now we have two weeks to get all the work done. This sucks! But when we get the parts and the work done they will re-inspect it and it will pass.

Where have I been??

As you can see it’s been quite a while since I’ve been on any of my blogs posting. There is a good reason for this. I have been sick!! Still!! This has been going on for almost a month now and I’m getting pretty sick of it. I have been coughing so bad that I haven’t been able to eat or sleep. I’m exhausted! So by the time I’m done checking all my sites and my e-mails, I’m pretty much done for the day with my computer. I haven’t even been able to check out my new laptop memory upgrade to see if it’s what I wanted. But, I now have some pretty potent cough medicine so hopefully I’ll be feeling more myself quite soon. Well until then, take care and I’ll see you all soon.

Wish me luck!!

Very shortly I will be headed out to Canadian Tire to see if I can get my car inspected. I’m really hoping that it will pass with flying colors or just need minor work done to get it to pass. Last year I thought it would pass and was extremely surprised to discover that I needed a ton of front end work done for it to pass. So much so that they quoted me over $1200 to get the work done. I really hope they don’t do this to me again this year. I don’t drive my car very much so I haven’t put a whole lot of miles on the thing since last year. So hopefully the work they did last year will still be good this year.

Wish me luck and I’ll let you all know how I make out.

You don’t have to be lonely any longer

dating sites

Although I am now happily married and have been with my husband for the past 15 years, this was not always the case. During my younger years, I searched and search for the perfect man. Of course I was searching in the wrong places and ended up with two very wrong men. But, I learned my lesson, exercised a little patience and end the end found Mr. Right. So what I’m trying to tell you, is that it is possible to locate the perfect man.

In this day and age, it does become a little more difficult to find the perfect person, but with the ease and access that most of us have to the Internet this job has become a bit more easily. For example, there are sites on line such as zoomondating.com. This site will help match you up to that perfect person. Whether your just looking for a casual dating experience or your looking to find “the one”, this site will help you to achieve your goals. There are a lot of links to choose from. Their site is easily navigated and they will be more than happy to help you in your search.

So, if it’s love your looking for, why not give this site a try. What have you got to lose?

Christmas baking

Well I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I am so…not a cook or baker. Over the years I have tried, but if it isn’t a simple recipe I just can’t seem to get it. So every year at Christmas time I spend a fortune on holiday baking. Well this year I don’t have to do that. Yes, I still have to buy a few things, but I have someone (or should I say two people) who is going to do some baking for me. One of my great blogging buddies Tammy is making me some peanut butter balls and her sister (sorry Sharla can’t give you a link- no blog) is going to make me some chocolate marshmallow squares and yes…some cherry balls!! So because of these two I’m going to end up saving quite a bit of cash this year. I just hope I won’t have to put that extra cash into diet pills after the holidays are over.

So my family will get to eat quite a few little treats this season and I get to save a little cash. It’s a win-win situation.

A Vegas Christmas present

How would you all like to receive a vegas vacation for a Christmas present? Well…that’s exactly what one of my friends got for Christmas. All her kids pitched their money together and bought her an all expenses paid holiday to Vegas. She leaves sometime in March and is so excited. Well I guess if I were her, I would be pretty excited too! But since two of my kids are in elementary school and don’t have jobs yet, I probably shouldn’t expect the same gift from them. lol But still, it would be an awesome gift to receive.

The $20.00 tip

Most of you may not be aware of this, but my regular job is that I am a waitress. I really enjoy my job and try to make my customer’s dining experience the very best it can be. Well I must be doing a pretty good job as yesterday I got a very nice compliment from customers that were from out of town (and a very nice tip to boot)

When the customer came up to the cash to pay for her bill she handed me her debit card and then I rang it through. Then she proceeded to hand me a twenty dollar bill. Of course I thanked her for the tip and then she thanked me for the AWESOME service to her and her family. She then stated that she was from out of town and this was their first visit there. And because of me, they will definitely be back! This pleased me greatly. It’s comments like this that keep a smile on my face while serving other customers.

My son will not be home for the holidays

Although Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and happiness, there is one thing going on in my life that makes me a little sad. That would be the fact that my oldest son will not be home again this year for the holidays. About a year and a half ago he moved far away and hasn’t been able to get home for a visit. It’s especially hard on the two little ones as they really do miss him. So this past weekend I took them out shopping to see if they could find him the perfect gift to send him in the mail. My youngest son was looking at tape drives for him, but my daughter realized that we need to buy him things that won’t cost an arm and a leg in shipping. So we came home with some smaller presents and on Friday I will be sending them in the mail. I think he will get quite a kick out of seeing these gifts, especially when he finds out that the kids picked out all these presents themselves.
