My son will not be home for the holidays
Although Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and happiness, there is one thing going on in my life that makes me a little sad. That would be the fact that my oldest son will not be home again this year for the holidays. About a year and a half ago he moved far away and hasn’t been able to get home for a visit. It’s especially hard on the two little ones as they really do miss him. So this past weekend I took them out shopping to see if they could find him the perfect gift to send him in the mail. My youngest son was looking at tape drives for him, but my daughter realized that we need to buy him things that won’t cost an arm and a leg in shipping. So we came home with some smaller presents and on Friday I will be sending them in the mail. I think he will get quite a kick out of seeing these gifts, especially when he finds out that the kids picked out all these presents themselves.

I would be sad too. My oldest son is spending Christmas with his dad in Texas this year. I will miss him too.

Awww, that’s a bummer! I know my parents were sad when I moved thousands of miles away and couldn’t make it home for Christmas - but we did call on Christmas and opened our exchanged gifts while on the phone…it made it feel like I was right there with them! Maybe that’s an idea for you guys to do this year, especially since the little ones picked out special presents just for him - have them on the phone with him while he opens them…

I hope that somehow he will find a way to visit you soon–that would be the best present for ALL of you!

That’s so very sad that you won’t see your son for Christmas this year. This is the season that we all envision reuniting, coming together, but it is becoming harder and harder to do with everyone’s busy schedules. Have a joyous and merry Christmas!
