Wearing pink

Today is stand up to bully day at the kids school. What this means, is that each child (as well as staff) are required to wear pink for the day to show that they support the cause of standing up to bullying. For my daughter this was not a problem as most everything she owns is pink. My son, on the other hand, does not own one pink item and refuses to wear pink (he’s a boy, go figure). Well he was quite upset that his school was making him wear pink today (he won’t even drink out of a pink cup), but being the crafty little mommy that I am, I solved this problem. This morning I gave him a “pink” ribbon to wear on his shirt. He was quite pleased with this and the school will be happy as well as the kid is wearing pink.

Another crisis solved!

Seven down…one to go

Well I have seven skating sessions completed and only one to go. Today was my son’s final skate day with his class and let me all tell you, the rink was cold!! But the kids had a blast and I guess that’s all that’s important. Now my daughter’s class has one more skating session to go. She will go on the Tuesday that they return to school after March break. And then I won’t have to go stand in another freezing rink for at least eight months! Yay! It’s times like this that I thank god that my kids aren’t into hockey or figure skating. There are a lot warmer activities that they can be involved in than rink activities.

Running out of things to say

Honestly, you would think between my home life, my work life and my online life, that I would have a wealth of information to offer you people now wouldn’t you?? Well it seems like these days I’ve run out of things to say. I don’t know if it’s because after two years, I’ve finally gotten bored of blogging or what. But lately it seems like such a chore to come in here and post. And then when I do, it just seems like all I do is ramble. I really hope it’s just part of the winter blues and not a sign of things to come. But all I can do is keep plugging away as I always do and hope for the best. Who knows maybe next time I stop in here to do a post, I’ll have something interesting to say?! Then again…maybe not.

Finally warming up

Well I can safely say that I think Spring is finally starting to arrive. For the past few days we have been experiencing some pretty mild weather and I couldn’t be more pleased. I am certainly not a winter person, but I would have to say that of all the winter weather we tend to experience, the part of winter that I absolutely hate would be the bitterly cold temperatures. I really don’t mind the snow as long as it’s mild out. For the past few days we have been getting a lot of snow flurries, but it’s been mild. So I guess for once I won’t be complaining about the weather.

Crazy mixed up day

During the night last night it rained here pretty hard. Then it got cold. So you can just about imagine what kind of shape our roads were in first thing this morning. So when we got up we started listening to the radio to see if the schools were cancelled. They weren’t but the buses would be delayed an hour. Then later on the radio they stated that some of the buses from our area wouldn’t be running. But they didn’t list the buses. So I called the school to see if the kids bus was running. And yes, it was. But it was pretty confusing to say the least.

Then my husband calls me to inform me that he got in a little fender bender. He was on his way to fix one of the digital signage equipment and actually slid into this equipment. He’s OK. But it did make me wonder if I should have sent the kids to school at all. But, they made it to school and the roads in our area seem to be getting a whole lot better.

Pretty interesting field trip

Yesterday my youngest son came home with a permission slip for another field trip. This field trip actually is a pretty neat idea and my son is really looking forward to going on it. They will be going to our local gym to see what getting in shape and staying in shape is all about. They will get to try out some of the equipment like the ellipticals and the stair steppers. Although he is quite excited about this day, I really can’t imagine what his teacher was thinking. LOL Taking thirty children to a gym on a field trip will be no easy feat I wouldn’t imagine. But with a lot of supervision (myself included I think), I think this could probably turn out to be one of the best field trips ever.

A day to myself

I have discovered that over the past few years, having a day to myself is really like having a rare treat. This event normally doesn’t happen very much. So when it does, I really do like to take advantage of it. Well it looks like I’m going to be able to have a me day tomorrow (as long as I get all my housework done today). I don’t have to go anywhere or do anything important tomorrow. I can’t remember the last time this happened. So what do I plan on doing on my “me” day you may ask?! Well, I don’t really know at this point. Because these things don’t take place very often, I haven’t really had to worry about this question.

But…don’t worry. I’ll find something enjoyable to do!

Once again the end is near

Many of you may not know this, but I have been working at the same job on and off for about eight years now. The first time I worked there I was employed there for about six and half years. Then I had to quit due to the fact that I lost my babysitter. Well after being out of work for a year and a half, I was able to return back. I have been back since September of last year. Well once again it looks like I am going to be unemployed once again. My husband was informed that his shifts are going to change and this is going to make it nearly impossible for me to continue at my present place of employment.

I have been thinking about checking out some technical education and career articles to see if maybe I will be able to take some courses in this field and possibly find a better paying job where I can afford to pay a babysitter. But if not, I guess I could stay home for a couple of years until my daughter is old enough to babysit her brother. Either way, it looks like I’m going to once again be a stay at home mom for a while.

The talk…

Well the time that I have dreaded for 10 long years has finally arrived. Yes, that would be the time that I would need to sit down and have “the talk” with my daughter. She has come home from school lately asking all sorts of questions. Some of the topics that she wants to talk about (during supper no less) have kind of surprised me. Last night she was asking questions concerning vaginal dryness and since I really wasn’t prepared for this type of question, I was kind of speechless. So with her asking all these questions, I know the time has come. Oh…where did my little girl go?

Can’t live forever

I know why my daughter does this things, but I really wish she would learn to watch what she says.

Yesterday after school she was discussing death and informed my youngest son that everyone dies. Well we all know this now don’t we? But she really didn’t need to be discussing this topic with him. She informed him that even I would die and he started crying. She then tried to explain to him that I wouldn’t die for a very long time, but by this time he wasn’t listening to anything she said and he just continued to cry. The only way I could get him to stop was to tell him that I am going to live forever.

She knows stuff like this bothers him a lot, so I really wish she would lay off the death talk. On a happier note, I guess I get to live forever.
