And That’s….the Truth

So a few weeks ago I started working on a brand new quilt. I haven’t done this type of crafting in about four years so it kind of felt exciting to embark on this new project. I have the entire quilt almost cut out (which in my opinion is the boring part) and will begin sewing up the pieces sometime next week. Hopefully it turns out well and I can sell it to create the much needed extra income that we so desperately need. After I finish up with this quilt I am then going to teach myself how to make candles (already have the kit). So I have to get my rump in gear so I can finish up this project to get started on a new one. And of course I’ll keep you all posted on my progress.

So if your a parent like I am then I’m pretty sure a lot of you are dreading the week after next. That particular week will be the kid’s March break from school and we will have them home for nine days. It’s great for the kids but in a lot of ways it’s not great for us parents. Sure there will be some of you who have purchased disney packages so the kids will get a great vacation but for those of us who still have to work during this small break these little fun vacations just are not in the cards. Hopefully I can find something fun and creative for the kids to do. Otherwise I think I might be in for a week of fighting. They don’t fight quite as much as they used to but if the past is any indication of what might happen in the future I think I might be counting the days until March break is over, not when it begins.

I never get sick! Yes sometimes I do headaches but as far as any illness to talk about I normally don’t get sick. Well about a month ago I had the flue very bad. Actually that’s the first time I’ve had the flue in about three years so I just suffered my way through it. Well now I’m sick with a cold. I’m not sleeping at night, I’m all stuffed up and now today I have a serious headache. So I think after I’ve completed this post I’m going to shut my computer down and get a little rest. I have to work tonight so hopefully with a little rest I’ll feel a whole lot better and be ready to work my shift. If not…. it’s going to be one long shift. A couple of weeks ago I went to Walmart and purchased some material to start making quilts once again. I haven’t quilted in a long time so thought this might be something I’d like to get back into. Well after two weeks of cutting fabric I now remember why I stopped quilting. All this cutting is almost as bad as considering spinal laser surgery. Not really but things are going really slow and yes, I’m getting a little frustrated. I still have half the quilt to cut out before I can get to the fun sewing part. But I’ll keep plugging away at. After all I spent the money on the material so I really need to see this thing completed. Hopefully then I can sell it at a reasonable price and then all this cutting will be so worth it. And as usual I keep you all posted on my progress.

So last night I finally got my last T-4 that I needed to do up my taxes to send away. And I am happy to report that I am actually getting money back this year! Yay, now maybe I won’t have to look into car title loans like I have been over the past couple of days. I think this bit of money might just be what we needed to help us get through these lean times. Plus my husband is expecting a tax refund as well and his bonus will be hear within a couple of weeks as well. So I think we might be all right once again. I don’t think we’ve been this broke in a very long time and over the next year I’m going to make sure that this never happens again. So keeping my fingers crossed that my refund check comes soon so I can stop worry so much about money all the time.

A couple of weeks ago my son and daughter each came home from school with a major science project that they had to complete. First they had to pick the topic and then do an experiment and then the write up. Well my daughter get right on this and did an experiment on posguys barcode scanners and has most of the write up done as well. My son on the other hand put his off. So now with only a week left to get it finished, we are going to do it tonight. He has no choice. I think it’s going to be a fight to the finish but since I have the night off, I think we will be able to get a good start on it. Hopefully we have the biggest part of it done this week and only have to put on the final touches this weekend. Man… I hate when he does this to me.
