Waste of an afternoon

Yesterday I decided to start creating all the jewelry that I’m going to want to have done in the next six weeks.  I got out all my supplies and spent three hours on one necklace.  Well I have to tell you all that it was a complete waste of my time.  The necklace didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to so I now have to take it all out and start over.  This really made me mad!  Oh well.  Things like that do happen.  So I’m going to take apart this necklace and try again this afternoon.  The one thing I can say about myself is that I won’t stop trying until I have it done and I think it’s perfect.  This piece wasn’t, so it’s back to the drawing board for me.  I just wish it hadn’t taken me three hours to discover that I didn’t like the creation.

Busy six weeks

For the next six weeks, I will be a busy little beaver.  I need to make as much jewelry as I can in the next six weeks.  Thankfully I have tons of beading supplies so I don’t need to make any purchases, just jewelry.  I was talking to a friend of mine that goes to a lot of craft and dog shows.  The first of August she will be going to two major shows and has offered to take all my jewelry inventory with her to try to sell for me.  So the more inventory I can have made up and give to her, the more profits I can potentially make.  So it’s going to be a busy time for me.  I’ll have the two kids home on summer break and I’ll still have to get all this jewelry made around their schedules.  But hopefully she will sell a lot of my stuff and I can make a lot of money.

Jewelry update

So I thought I would give you all an update on how I’m doing with my homemade jewelry creations. I have quite a few pieces made and I plan to start selling them at my father in law’s upcoming garage sales. I have tried to sell them via the Internet, but haven’t seen very many sales through this method. I think part of the problem is that when your selling off the Internet, the pictures just don’t do the pieces justice. And then of course you have to add shipping charges to all your prices, so the pieces become a little more expensive. So I will try to sell them in person to people and see how I make out with this course of action. I can’t do any worse then I’m doing right now. So hopefully I will do better.

Busy creating

As you all know I am trying to get a home crafting business up and running. I have a couple of things in the works as far as sales go, but I needed to have more inventory on hand if these ideas of mine are going to work. So for the past five days I have been busy creating new pieces. And all you lucky folks get to see a sneak peek of what I have been up to.

These pieces are a little more complex than what I normally make and they did take me a bit more time than it usually takes, but I honestly believe the end results is so totally worth it. So take a peek at what I’ve been up to lately and please let me know what you all think.

Update on jewelry sales

This was going to be a very short post. lol  I haven’t had any luck with online sales.  I was then going to cry and sign off.  But one little e-mail changed all that.  No it’s not a sale, but it is the possibility of some sales.  A lady contacted me about doing some drop shipping for her.  That would mean me as the creator wouldn’t have to worry about sales and her the seller would find people to purchase my products.  I would have to pay her a small fee of course, but I honestly don’t mind this if it gets my products sold.

So over the weekend I have to create some unique pieces and then at the first of the week I’ll send the pics along with all the information to her and see how it goes.  At this point it certainly can’t hurt.  And maybe, just maybe, I’ll be able to pop back in here with a smile on my face saying I got my first sale.  Fingers crossed everyone and wish me luck.

Why do people bother?

Honestly I don’t understand people.  Last week I set up a provillus results pictures
WP auctions ad on one of my other blogs to start selling my homemade jewelry.  Now, I got really excited and happy when I seen that I had a bid on one of my pieces.  It was a reasonable bid, so I really expected that it was a true bid.  Now I’m not so sure.  When I got up this morning and checked that blog to see how the bidding was going I had four fraudenlent bids on the account.  Now, I realize that my jewelry is worth something, but I’m pretty sure that it’s not worth over $2000.  That was the last bid.  And that bid came from the same name as the first bid so that is why I kind of think that the first bid wasn’t a true bid either.  Well I deleted all the fraudulent ones and left the first one, so I guess we will see.

But, I honestly don’t understand why people would waste their (and mine) time to place these outrageous bids.  Don’t they have anything better to do with their day??  What do they get out of it?  Obviously a person with a brain (and I think I have one) is going to realize that these are not true bidders and they are going to delete them (which I did).  Oh well, I guess it takes all kinds now doesn’t it?

A good day for crafting

Well today the caralluma extreme with green tea
weather is pretty crappy so we have decided to stay in for the day.  The kids need this day to unwind after a long week of March break and need to get all rested up to go back to school tomorrow.  So I have decided that today will be a day for crafting.  I still have some jewelry that I need to make and when I get the pieces finished I need to take pictures and upload them on to different sites.  I have been kind of slack with this part of my life lately and since we aren’t doing anything major today anyway, have decided that today would be a good day to get back into my routines.  So hopefully I will get some things created and when I have pictures up, I’ll be sure to come back in and post the pictures.

Things are looking up!

Last night I got a sells provillus
call from a lady I used to work for requesting some information on the quilts that I make and sell.  So I gave her the lowdown on the prices, the different types of quilts and the different sizes.  Well I have to tell you all that I was quite speechless when she asked if I could make her THREE queen sized quilts by Christmas.  Yes, I can do the work, but it’s a pretty tall order.  Not only did she agree with my original prices but she also stated that if I can have these quilts done by Christmas she will throw in a small bonus.

So, I bet your wondering what my answer was, aren’t you?  I said yes.  So now I have quite a bit of quilting to do.  But I don’t mind.  Once all these items are finished, I’m going to see a pretty good pay check.  And, just in time for the holiday season!  I can’t believe that I’m going to say this, but I hope no one else wants a quilt any time soon.

Jeweler’s Block

What is this, do you ask?  Well it goes along the caralluma fimbriata for
same lines as “writer’s block”.  Right now I have a serious problem.  For the life of me, I can’t think of a single piece of jewelry to create.  I have tons and tons of supplies, so that is not the problem.  It’s just that I have made so many necklaces and bracelets, that I’m having a real difficult time trying to come up with a new theme for another one.  It’s a shame actually as the more pieces of jewelry I make, the bigger the profit is for me.  But even knowing that everyday that I don’t create I don’t make any money, isn’t helping me out here either.

So, what do you all do when you have a “block” of some kind??  Do you just walk away for a period of time (which I have done for the past two weeks) or do you digging around for some inspiration?  I would really love to hear your thoughts on my most serious problem.

Another new project

I know that I really should finish crafting projects that I have started before I begin new ones, but I really can’t help myself.  Right now I have some pieces of caralluma and hoodia
homemade jewelry that I really need to finish, my daughter’s knitted afghan, a pink and purple quilt,  and three different scrapbooks.  But, I start to get bored with what I’m doing so I start something new.

Last night I set up my printer so I went browsing the Internet for some free plastic canvas patterns that I could download and print.  Well I found two different bathroom sets that I’m going to make to put up for sale on my crafting site.  Now that I have the printed patterns, I want to start making them.  I know I should wait until I have  some of my other projects finished before I start on it.  But if I know me, within the next couple of days I will be hauling out all my plastic canvas supplies. lol
