It had better warm up!!

Here in Canada, we have another long weekend approaching. And…this is the long weekend that we start the camping season. Yeah!! But, it has really got to warm up quite a bit before I can ever think about taking out the luggage and start packing to go away. Although the days are starting to get pretty warm, the nights are still bitterly cold. We do have a heater in our camper so we wouldn’t be cold. But it wouldn’t be too much fun having to stay in the trailer because it’s too cold to sit outside. But hopefully it will warm up enough that we can get our first camping trip in. I’ll be sure to let you all know our final decision.

A day of reflection

Today is Mother’s day.  And although I am happy that it’s mother’s day and I am having a really great day, I am also a little sad as well.  This is the fourth mother’s day that I have spent without my mother and this is the first mother’s day that we have spent without my husband’s mother.  So although I am happy that I can have my own kids around me on this special day, I am sad because I am missing two very important women in my life.  All the other holidays are hard as well, but mother’s day seems to be a little different.  Without having them with us on this day it tends to make me miss them just a little bit more.

But, enough with the sadness.  I would like to  wish you all a very happy mother’s day and hope you will treasure this and every day that you have with your moms.

Boys will be boys

I don’t know who is the bigger kid in my house. My husband or my seven year old son. Yesterday after supper my husband asked me son if he would like to go for a drive on the four wheeler. Oh, what a silly man! So they both got ready and off on the bike they went. Now, you have to understand that when they both left them as well as their bike were completely mud free when they left. But as you can see from the following picture, that was not the case when they arrived home.

It was actually quite funny as when they arrived back home they both stuck their heads in the house like little kids and stated “I got a little muddy”. Little muddy wasn’t the word for it. So it was in the bath for both of them as well as the washer running half the night. But by the grin on both of their faces, you could tell that they both had fun so I guess it was worth it.

Crappy day today

Well it’s the weekend and the weather outside is pretty crappy.  The kids won’t be able to go outside today as it’s pouring rain and it’s really quite cold out.  So I have to find them something to do in the house.  Two little people between the ages of 9 and 7 can get bored quite easily and it can sometimes be quite a chore to find things to keep them busy.  But, I think I have come up with a solution.  I have hooked up their computer for them to play some online games on. The only problem with this solution is there is only one computer, so that means a little bit of fighting. But we will see if my idea works.

It was the girl’s turn

As yesterday was another nice spring day, all warm and sunny, when my husband got home from work, he decided that he would take the four wheeler out for a little spin.  Since the last few times that he has gone he has taken the little guy, he asked Kara if she would like to go this time.  She doesn’t go nearly as much as Daniel but every once in a while she enjoys a ride.

So, off they went (with a few complaints from my son).  They weren’t gone very long but when she hopped off the bike she said that he had fun.  One of my son’s favorite parts about riding on the bike is the fact that they get so muddy, that was her least favorite part. lol  She ran in the house stripped and then insisted on having a bath to rid herself of all the mud.  Had that been Daniel, he would have wanted to stay in his muddy clothes forever.

But, she had fun and isn’t that what biking is all about??

The “mud” boy

Yesterday was a beautiful spring day in our area (about time).  The sun was shining, the birds were singing and it was plus 10 out.  I think spring has finally arrived!  Yeah!!

So because it was such a gorgeous day, my husband decided to take out the four wheeler.  When he asked my youngest son if he would like to go for a ride, he jumped at the chance.  When they left the yard, there was a seven year old little boy sitting on the back of the bike with a smile as big as the earth.  When they arrived back in the yard, my son was transformed into the “mud” boy. lol  After peeling off the layers, I did find Daniel underneath all the mud.  Although this created a little bit of extra work for me, the smile that was and still is plastered all over his face was totally worth it.

You couldn’t wipe the smile off his face

This has been a very long winter for not only myself but for my kids as well.  Because of all the snowstorms and bad weather that we have been experiencing, the kids haven’t been able to get out of the house much to play.  So this means that my little fellow hasn’t been able to go out on his father’s four wheeler at all this season and that has been a major disappointment for him.

Well on Sunday it was a pretty decent day so my husband took my son out for a drive on the four wheeler.  They were gone for over an hour and my young son even got to do some of the driving.  When he got home you couldn’t wipe the smile off his face and it’s still plastered there.  He really loves going out on the bike, and now with spring almost here (fingers crossed), hopefully he will get out more often.

Going to see his daughter

My father in law has decided that he would like to go visit his daughter and grand kids this summer. He mentioned it to my husband and I because he needs someone to look after his dog while he is away. Because he is nearing 70 and his health isn’t the very best, I mentioned to him that he should really get some extra travel health insurance for his trip. Although he does have medicare coverage anywhere in provillus website
Canada, some of his medical expenses that he may incur while traveling away may not be covered under her provinces medicare plans. So along with passports, and making different types of arrangements, this is something else that he really needs to take care of before he heads out.

Going out for supper

My sister-in-law invited us out to Provillus
supper to celebrate her and her husband's upcoming 25th wedding anniversary. It sounded like a fun time and they have picked one of the newer restaurants to go to so we told them we would go. She jokingly said that if she continues to eat like she did 25 years ago when they were first married, she might need to buy some weight loss pills. This is why she picked this particular restaurant. It caters to the health conscious consumers. She's not overweight by any means and I really didn't understand the joke, but if it gets me out of the house without the kids for a little while, then I'm game.

Their going away!

Yeah!!  Both of provillus reviews scalp
the kids are going to a sleep over tonight.  They have both agreed to go to their grandfather's for the night.  And if your wondering if this is a huge deal, yes it is!  My daughter is 9 and has only been away over night once (when she was 8 months old) and my son who is seven has NEVER slept away from home.  So yes, this is a HUGE step for both of them.  He wanted them to stay the night this past Sunday but neither one would because they didn't have any of their stuff.  So you can bet that I'm going to make sure to pack everything they could ever need in life to ensure that they enjoy their sleep over and then they may possibly do this again.

If everything goes right, their grandfather will pick them up shortly before supper and then when my husband gets home from work, we will be able to go out to dinner.  Oh man, I almost forget what it's like to have dinner out without two little people fidgeting around.  And then for the first time in nine years I'm going to get an excellent night's sleep without worrying about whether one or two kids will be getting up in the middle of the night.

But, if things go like they normally do in my life I can expect a phone call that one or both of them will want to come home and I'll be driving down the road at midnight to pick them up.  Oh well, wish me luck and I'll be sure to let you all know how Grampie and the kids make out on their little adventure.
