It had better warm up!!

Here in Canada, we have another long weekend approaching. And…this is the long weekend that we start the camping season. Yeah!! But, it has really got to warm up quite a bit before I can ever think about taking out the luggage and start packing to go away. Although the days are starting to get pretty warm, the nights are still bitterly cold. We do have a heater in our camper so we wouldn’t be cold. But it wouldn’t be too much fun having to stay in the trailer because it’s too cold to sit outside. But hopefully it will warm up enough that we can get our first camping trip in. I’ll be sure to let you all know our final decision.

A day of reflection

Today is Mother’s day.  And although I am happy that it’s mother’s day and I am having a really great day, I am also a little sad as well.  This is the fourth mother’s day that I have spent without my mother and this is the first mother’s day that we have spent without my husband’s mother.  So although I am happy that I can have my own kids around me on this special day, I am sad because I am missing two very important women in my life.  All the other holidays are hard as well, but mother’s day seems to be a little different.  Without having them with us on this day it tends to make me miss them just a little bit more.

But, enough with the sadness.  I would like to  wish you all a very happy mother’s day and hope you will treasure this and every day that you have with your moms.

Present for mom. Present for you.

As you all know, Mother’s day is just a few days away. If your anything like me, you have a bit of a difficult time this time of year deciding on the perfect gift for mom. My mom like most moms generally has everything she wants. So normally I would go into our local florist shop and purchase her a beautiful flower arrangement. This year though, I would like to tell you all about a different type of idea that concerns flowers.

If your having a difficult time deciding what to give mom, then why not check out flatplasticvases.com. This company sells folded collapsible vases to put any type of flower arrangement in. All the vases on their site are completely re-usable so when you purchase a product from this site, you are getting the best of both worlds. You are giving mom something that she will enjoy for years to come and because these products are re-usable, you are also saving the environment from any unnecessary waste. And if your order a vase before mother’s day, you will receive two free vases. So this is where the present for you comes in. You can give one to your mother, one to your mother-in-law and keep one for yourself.

So if you’ve been looking for that perfect gift to give mom, why not give this site a try. Not only will you make mom happy with this very unique purchase, but you will also be helping the environment as well.

Boys will be boys

I don’t know who is the bigger kid in my house. My husband or my seven year old son. Yesterday after supper my husband asked me son if he would like to go for a drive on the four wheeler. Oh, what a silly man! So they both got ready and off on the bike they went. Now, you have to understand that when they both left them as well as their bike were completely mud free when they left. But as you can see from the following picture, that was not the case when they arrived home.

It was actually quite funny as when they arrived back home they both stuck their heads in the house like little kids and stated “I got a little muddy”. Little muddy wasn’t the word for it. So it was in the bath for both of them as well as the washer running half the night. But by the grin on both of their faces, you could tell that they both had fun so I guess it was worth it.

So…It looks like were buying a mini van

For the past year my husband and I have been discussing purchasing a “cheap” truck.  We had decided to sell my car (it’s the least expensive of the two) and take that money with a little extra and buy the truck.  So you can imagine my complete surprise when I got home from taking my daughter to her fiddle-a-thon (another post) and he informed me that him and my son purchased a van.  He had decided to trade in his car for this van.  Although I don’t think we need a van (8 passenger), it’s something he wants so what the heck.

I will still have my car so I can still go where I need to.  I don’t drive his car any way, so not driving this newer vehicle won’t bother me in the least.  But, I did want a truck and I thought we were getting a truck.  See what happens when I leave him home on his own for four hours. lol

House hunting

Last night when my husband got home from work he was so excited. He was telling me about a house that isn’t on the market yet, but he found out about it and if everything he heard was true, it would be the perfect house for us. So my husband and I and the kids piled in the car to go look at this house. I have to say that I was highly impressed with the layout of the house, the great condition it was in and the huge back yard. The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the bath lift, but I figured that if we end up purchasing the home, we can always remove this. So my husband is going today to talk to our mortgage broker and see if we can get pre-qualified for a mortgage. If we can then we will probably put an offer in on this house.

I’m going to be a great aunt again

A couple of years ago my oldest brother moved quite far away and now we are only able to keep in contact through phone calls and e-mails.  And we really don’t use these services very much either.  Last  week he called me to tell me that he is going to be a grandfather again.  That would make me a great aunt again.

Because my niece lives with him, anything I send her for the baby will take quite a while to get to her.  So I have been thinking about a great gift to send her and the baby.  I have decided to wait until have she has the baby to send her something.  I want to know if she has a boy or a girl and what she has named it so I can send her some personalized baby clothes. So although she won’t get my present until after the baby is born, I think she will still like it as it will be personalized.

Work at home moms

As most of you are already aware of, I am a stay at mom to two young children. I actually have three kids, but my oldest son is now 18 and lives out on his own. So currently I only have to take care of two kids. I wasn’t always a stay at home mom. For almost seven years I did hold a full time job working outside of the home but in May of last year I lost my babysitter and was unable to find another reliable one. So I gave my notice and quit my job.

Prior to losing my job, I could see that I wasn’t going to be able to work outside of the home past May so I started looking for ways in which I could earn extra income working from home. That’s when I found PayPerPost and discovered that I could make money doing paid reviews on my blogs. Well this situation has worked out great. Not only am I able to supplement our household income through paid blogging, but this arrangement gives me the opportunity to stay at home with my two younger kids. Due to this arrangement my kids are happier, my husband is happier and so am I.

Now I would like to tell you all about another opportunity that will allow me to stay at home and make more income doing it. This opportunity is known as SocialSpark and has been created by the creators of PayPerPost. With this program, you will be able to do paid blogging, sponsorships and so much more. Right now this system is in the alpha stage which I am so thrilled to be a part of, so it is not available to the public yet. But if your a “mommy” and would like to discover a fantastic way to earn income while staying at home with your kids, then go check out the site and sign up for more information that will be made available to you when the site goes live. Your kids will thank you for it!!

Looking for a new job

Looking for a new job can be quite a hassle. Especially if you’ve been at your current place of employment for over 10 years. Well this is what is taking place in my husband’s life right now. For quite a while he hasn’t been real happy at his place of employment and has finally decided to do something about it. But, there is only one problem with this line of reasoning. He hates change. It took me over six months to convince him to purchase the home we currently live in even when he could see the home that we were living in was really way to small and when I tried to discuss changing our life insurance policy, he wouldn’t even discuss it. But hopefully this decision he has made won’t take it’s toll on him like every other choice he tries to make and maybe he will finally be happy at a job.

I took a “me” day

Yesterday I wasn’t online very much.  I decided to take a “me” day.  So first thing in the morning I checked my e-mails, checked a couple of forums where I post a bit in, and then shut my computer down for the day.  It was a really weird day for me as I am not used to spending so little time on the computer.  But, I have to say I had a very enjoyable day.  I spent some quality time with the kids, did some housework (yuck) and then started sorting through all my scrapbooking supplies.

But now that it’s Monday morning, my “me” day is over and I’m back to the same routine again.  I had so much fun yesterday, that I may start taking more “me” days in the future.
