Quiet time

Wow, I was trying to remember the last time that I had the house to myself. And you know, it’s been well over two weeks. Two weeks ago the kids were home on March break and then last week my husband was home on a week’s holidays. So, it’s been quite a while since I have been home alone and have been able to do everything that I normally do. So, I have a lot to get done this week. But being in the house by myself, I’m pretty sure that I can get it all done.

Little mix up

Yesterday as the kids and I pulled into our driveway after school, a hydro truck pulled in behind us. The lady behind the wheel asked if I lived here. When I stated yes, she then informed me that she was there to pull my meter. Realizing that when they pull a meter I have no hydro I was not real impressed. So I asked her to sit tight so I could call their toll free number to see what was going on. Well, turns out that it wasn’t my meter that she needed to pull at all. It’s a good thing I arrived when I did, or we could have been in serious trouble. It was minus 16 out with a windchill of minus 28 and with no hydro we would have been frozen. So after I got off the phone with them, I sent this lady on her way.

New year…new style

Who else besides myself are having a hard time believing that the end of 2008 is now in sight?? Do you guys have any plans to go out tonight or are you staying in? Well our family is staying in tonight. With my husband on call, we are pretty much limited to what we can do. But I’m sure it will be a great new year’s eve any way.

Well with the end of 2008, 2009 is coming rushing in. Did you happen to make any new year’s resolutions this year? I did. But I only made one. My new year’s resolution is to become a more healthier and better looking me. And, my first step that I’ve decided to take is to purchase some new eyeglasses. I have decided to make my purchase from Zenni Optical. After browsing their site, I have found a lot of different styles that interest me very much. And with prices starting at only $8.00 a pair, I’m bound to find a pair that I not only will look good in, but a pair that I will be able to afford quite easily.

In the past I really haven’t kept any of my new year’s resolutions, but after seeing what this site has to offer with their many Holiday frames, I am quite confident that I will be able to keep this resolution. So after I make my purchase, get my hair cut and dyed I will have fulfilled my new year’s resolution of a better looking me.

Teenagers playing with fire

The other day I dropped into my neighbors house to borrow a staple gun. While I was there they showed me their carpet and their wall where their two teenage sons had burnt holes in. They explained that the two boys tried to start the wood stove while the parents were at work and darn near burnt the house down. While they were telling me their story, they were laughing. I personally wouldn’t have been laughing quite so hard if I were them considering the fact that they don’t have any home owner insurance and would have lost everything had their home burnt down. I thought the kids were pretty lucky that they didn’t live at my house. As there would have been no laughter here!

I’ve lost my bedroom

I have a big job ahead of me today. I need to clean out my bedroom. Honestly it seems like every time something comes into this house, it either gets thrown in my home office or in my bedroom. So today is the day I’ve decided to try to find my bedroom once again. And since I’m in there, I plan on cleaning out both dressers as well. I am planning on tossing away a few garments that we haven’t worn in quite a while. Don’t worry I don’t have any sexy swimwear in there that needs to be tossed. I only have one bathing suit (that’s never been worn) and it’s already packed away for the season. So if you don’t hear from me for a while, you know where I’m at. Lost in what I like to call a bedroom.

Back to renovating

Well it’s official our trailer park has been sold. We still aren’t sure as to who it was sold to so we don’t know what kind of rules they will extend or enforce. I just hope their not too hard to deal with. So until we can decide whether or not they are going to be nice owner’s or not, our extension plans have been put on hold. We don’t want to build an extension on our home only to be told in a couple of months time that it has to be removed or that we have to move. So until then we will continue on with the renovations inside the home and wait for word when it is safe to build the extension.

I am so overwhelmed

For the past month or so my father in law has been cleaning out his house and has been giving me a ton of stuff. Most of the items that he has given me I will put to good use but for now it’s just laying around the house. My house is so cluttered that I’m having a hard time just walking around it. Yesterday he showed up with more stuff and I just wanted to cry. We have no room for the stuff he already has given us and for him to walk in the house with a box filled with Delta faucets, knickknacks, stuffed animals for the kids and two big cabinets I just wanted to sit on the floor and cry. But I smiled and said thank you and then told my husband that he really needs to do something with this place and the stuff or I’m going to go crazy.

New additions to my collections

My husband always tells me I’m a pack rat but I don’t consider myself one.  I consider myself a collector.  I collect a lot of things.  Right now in my collections I have coins, collector spoons, salt and pepper shakers and ceramic animals.  Well the other day while we were visiting my father in law I was given some new collections to get started on.  My father in law gave me my mother in law’s collection of bells and teapots.  So I have a few more collections that I need to keep adding to.  Every time I get new items for my collections my husband just groans and the name “pack rat” comes back out.  One of these days he will understand that all these items are worth something.  Well…at least to me.

How about you guys?  Any collections of your own that you would like to share?

Two great kids!

I know I moan and complain a lot about my two younger children and all their fighting, but sometimes they can be so sweet.  Like this morning.  I woke up this morning with a headache so I laid down on the couch for a little while.  After I got up and was sitting at my computer my daughter asked me if I had seen their surprise.  She told me the surprise was in the bathroom.  So I went to look to see what damage they had caused.  The damage was…that they had both folded all the laundry that was on top of the dryer and that was in the dryer.  They then put all their own clothes away and placed mine and my husband’s on our bed.  So yeah, they can be bad, but on days like today they have also shown that they can be good.

I should be a plumber

When I was growing up, one of the professions in life that I wanted to have was certainly not to become a plumber. But these days I kind of wish that I had taken that plumbing course after all. For months now I have had a leaky faucet in the bathroom and all my nagging, pleading and begging to have it fixed has fallen on deaf ears. I love my husband to death, but sometimes he really does annoy me. If it’s a problem that he has no interest in, he won’t even look at it. So I have decided that I have two options. Option number 1 would be to take a plumbing course and fix the thing myself. Or, option number 2 would be to continue to nag. As nagging doesn’t cost anything and plumbing school does, I guess I’ll go with option number 2.
