Refocusing

A few months ago I decided to try my hand at transcription. I really did enjoy the type of work I was doing and made some pretty decent cash with it. Well, real life got in the way and I kind of let that type of work slide. Well I have decided to get back in to it. Over the past couple of days I have applied for a couple of jobs and just received an e-mail this morning that a company would like me to test for them. I’m pretty pumped about that. So I have decided to dust off all my office furniture and get back into it. I’m just waiting for the test file to come through my e-mail. Hopefully I do fine and begin transcribing once again.

It’s about time!

Well after three days of not being able to get on the computer, I am finally able to use it somewhat today. I have been having a lot of problems with my computer and with the speed of it being incredibly slow I just couldn’t be bothered messing around with it. If I can’t get my computer to work better than it has for the past three days, I’m seriously going to have to invest in a new one. I really hope it doesn’t come down to that, but I really can’t afford to be off the Internet for many more days like that. It was a great little break off the computer, but it’s really going to hurt come payday.

Small paycheck

Last week I got my paycheck from work and it was the smallest paycheck that I’ve ever received. The main reason for this was because I took the week before off for vacation so I lost a few hours there. Honestly I could make more money doing a liporexall review then I do actually going to work. But I enjoy my job and look forward to the little bit of time that I get out of the house and away from the kids (sorry kids). So it’s a good thing that the money doesn’t matter to me otherwise I’d be one very sad lady.

Long days

Well I finally did it. I started my home transcription career and let me tell you folks that it is so…not as easy as it sounds. Yesterday spent seven hours typing dictation and today I spent nine. I have the biggest brain ache imaginable and my eyes are seriously crossing. I was so busy concentrating on my typing, that I even ignored my phone today when my insurance agent called to give me a life insurance quote. I was pretty discouraged last night, but after seeing that I could type of bigger file in less time, I’m willing to stick it out for a little while longer. So if you don’t see me posting in here a great deal, you now know why.

Selling my jewelry

This coming weekend one of my friends is holding a yard sale at her house and has invited me to come down with some of my handcrafted jewelry and try to sell them. For a yard sale like this, I really wish I could have some marketing pens to advertise my crafting business as well as my website. But since I don’t have any of these promotional tools on hand, I guess I’ll have to let my work speak for itself. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I have a ton of sales and sell everything I have.

My crafting business

Over the past few months I have discovered that running a small home business is not as easy as I thought it would be. I assumed by setting up a website and blog that I would have tons of visitors coming to my site and begging for my products. This has not happened. So I have decided to try something different. I’m going to order some personalized pens and start handing them out to everyone I know. Maybe this will get the word out and hopefully generate more sales for me. I’ll let you all know how I make out in this advertising adventure.

Failing job market

Here in Canada our job market is slowly shrinking. It’s getting harder and harder for kids coming out of school to find a decent job anywhere. Either they need to go back to school (which some cannot afford) or they end up taking a job that pays very little. I have to wonder if this is the same in all areas of the world or if there are areas where the jobs are more plentiful. I sometimes wonder how many good jobs in Philadelphia or other parts around the world there are for the younger generation. It’s really no wonder why a lot of people are moving out of our area. And if this trend continues, I can honestly see our population size decreasing in years to come.

Busy six weeks

For the next six weeks, I will be a busy little beaver.  I need to make as much jewelry as I can in the next six weeks.  Thankfully I have tons of beading supplies so I don’t need to make any purchases, just jewelry.  I was talking to a friend of mine that goes to a lot of craft and dog shows.  The first of August she will be going to two major shows and has offered to take all my jewelry inventory with her to try to sell for me.  So the more inventory I can have made up and give to her, the more profits I can potentially make.  So it’s going to be a busy time for me.  I’ll have the two kids home on summer break and I’ll still have to get all this jewelry made around their schedules.  But hopefully she will sell a lot of my stuff and I can make a lot of money.

Project Wonderful

You will notice on my sidebar that I have a column of ads placed there.  This is part of the Project Wonderful program that I have been a part of since January.  This program is an advertising program where advertisers can place ads on my site and I receive compensation for allowing them to do this.  Well I wanted to give you all an update on how this program is going so far.

Last week I finally reached the payout  of $10.00.  Because I reached the minimum payout, I then requested that this amount be paid to my paypal account.  In less than two hours of requesting, the $10.00 was paid into my paypal account.  Although this is not a program that will make you tons of cash, it is a nice passive program to be involved with.  All you need to do is set it up and then forget about it.  I have to say that I am happy with the program, so I will be sticking with it.

Jewelry update

So I thought I would give you all an update on how I’m doing with my homemade jewelry creations. I have quite a few pieces made and I plan to start selling them at my father in law’s upcoming garage sales. I have tried to sell them via the Internet, but haven’t seen very many sales through this method. I think part of the problem is that when your selling off the Internet, the pictures just don’t do the pieces justice. And then of course you have to add shipping charges to all your prices, so the pieces become a little more expensive. So I will try to sell them in person to people and see how I make out with this course of action. I can’t do any worse then I’m doing right now. So hopefully I will do better.
