Lots of school projects

Well you sure can tell that school is back in now after the Christmas break. Both of the children have come home this week announcing that they have multiple projects due in the next few weeks. My son who is in grade 6 has two massive projects due and my daughter who is in grade 8 has three. My daughter’s projects aren’t too bad (for me) as she does all of the work by herself but my son requires a lot of help from me so in fact I have two projects due soon as well. So instead of posting about breakdown services on my blogs I will be doing a science and social studies project this weekend. I thought I had already graduated and the homework had ended but… guess not.

Homework is starting to get hard

I swear to you all that I did successfully complete grade 6 but these days I really have to wonder how I did it. Late last week my youngest son brought home a social studies project and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to complete it. I swear it would be easier for him and me both just to take a course on Medical Liability Insurance instead of doing grade 6 homework. And now this project is due tomorrow and we still have no clue how to complete it. But it has to be done so I guess tonight when he comes home from school we will just have to sit here and try to figure it out until we get it done. I don’t remember grade 6 homework being this difficult way back when.

Horrible school pictures

Well both kids did end up getting their school pictures re-taken. And… they both sucked! I have to tell you all that had I known how the re-takes were going to come out I would never have gotten the re-takes. But since I did, I’m now stuck with those. So this morning I sent both kids with their pictures back to school with a check to purchase the school pics. But I didn’t buy very big packages. Usually I buy the big packages but not this year. Only immediate family is getting the pics and I’m just going to chalk this year up to a bad picture year. I will NEVER order re-takes ever again!! I definitely learned my lesson this time.

School picture retakes today

About a month ago both my kids had their school pictures taken. And to tell you all that they were both horrible, that is a serious understatement. For the first time ever in both of their academic careers I did not order a package and did ask for these kids to have retakes. Well today is that day. I am seriously hoping that both of them bring home better proofs than they did last month. But if not, I’ll still have to order them as I haven’t gone a year yet without ordering them. I just won’t order big packages. So keep your fingers crossed folks that these two produce two great pics!

Trying out for the soccer team

My youngest son is in middle school this year. One of the things that he was most excited about in middle school is the fact that he can try out for their soccer team. Now me, I’m not really excited about this fact. The main reason why I don’t want him to make the team is because of his size. Although he is the same age as these boys he will be playing with and against, he is EXTREMELY small for his age. So I worry that he will get hurt. I don’t have enough online life insurance yet to put myself though this. ha, ha. But it’s something he really wants to do. So I’m going to let him try out and hopefully he makes the team like he wants to and stays safe like I want him to.

School pictures

Both the children got their school pictures taken this week and brought back the proofs for me to look at. I’ve got to tell you all that I absolutely hated both of their pictures this year. For the first time ever they both took horrible pictures and I’m seriously considering retakes. The only problem I have with this is that the pictures that they get re-taken might actually be worse than the ones they originally brought home. But… I think I’m going to chance it because I really do hate both their pictures this year.

Grading presents

Well once again both the kids did totally amazing in their past school year! My daughter will be passing grade 7 and is getting an award for her efforts this year. My son has passed grade 5 and has his graduation ceremony from elementary school coming up as well. So that means I’ll have to invest in a couple of grading presents again this year. I wish I could afford to buy them laptops notebooks but I don’t think that is going to happen. But I’m sure whatever we end up getting them they will be happy with. I’m just glad they both passed and I have to buy them presents.

Final day of peace

Well, I’ve decided that I am going to try to enjoy my day today. The reason for this is because today will be the final day that I will enjoy a day of peace and quiet for a while. When the kids step off the school bus tonight, it was officially be the start of their March break. And if you spend any time in this blog at all, you will all know what that means. That means an entire week of fighting and no peace and quiet in sight.

If the past is anything to go by, I’ll have to set myself up for a week of fighting and not having any *me* time. I don’t even think I’d be able to sneak in a little time to enjoy a good Swisher Sweets cigar even if I wanted to. Oh well, March break will be over in a week and I can once again enjoy a quiet house. I just hope I last that long.

We need a new doctor

We really need to find a doctor. A few months ago my doctor stopped practicing due to an illness. So we haven’t had a doctor for about six months. It wasn’t a real big deal at the time as for the most part we are all healthy and don’t really need to go to the doctor on a regular basis. Well now things have changed. My son’s eczema is really acting up these days and we really need to get him into see a doctor for his medication. We could take him to the outpatient department at the hospital but I really don’t want to wait around six hours to get this medication. So… I have to find us a doctor and find us one soon.
