My daughter brought home a permission slip yesterday for her to be able to go to the Aquatic center to go swimming with her class. Now normally I allow her and her brother to go on every school trip without a moments hesitation, but this one did leave me a little frightened. The main reason for this is because she can’t swim but thinks she can. To me, that’s a pretty dangerous combination. So for her to be able to go, I have decided that I have to go to supervise her. You all know kids and when they get around their buddies they don’t want to admit that they are not as good as the other so they will try just about anything. And that’s not going to happen at a pool. So the first of next week she will be able to go on her trip, but I will be meeting her there. That was the only way I would agree to this field trip. She’s OK with this so I think it will all work out in the end.

With the end of the school year just around the corner, the kids have a lot of fun activities coming up. In June they will be going on various field trips, planting their marigolds at the town hall, last strings performance, a sports day at school and the annual family fun day at their school. These next three weeks are going to fly by and it won’t be anytime at all before they will be home with me for the entire summer. I swear the school year gets shorter every year. It seems just like yesterday that the kids were just starting the new school season. Now it’s the end of the school year and the kids will be having a blast.

Honestly I am getting so sick of these neighbors. Even though we live in a trailer park and rent our lot space, technically this is still our property. We are having a major problem keeping kids out of our yard and trying to keep them from stealing the kids toys. The parents of these kids are just as bad as the kids themselves. When we spoke to them about the kids taking my kids stuff they pretty much brushed us off. It’s a good thing that we don’t have any expensive items like swing sets in our yard or they would totally destroy those. So until we can move, I have to pick up everything and bring it in the house every night when the kids come inside. This is why I can’t wait to move.

Tomorrow my oldest son will turn 19. His turning 19 doesn’t make me sad. But him being so far away from home on his birthday does. Last May he moved out on he this own quite far away and we haven’t actually seen him since last July. This will be the first birthday that we haven’t celebrated as a family and I guess that’s why I’m a little sad tonight. Just thinking that he won’t be around around and the two younger kids won’t get to see him on his birthday will take a little getting used to. But I’m sure he will have a wonderful day and I’m sure I will hear all about it in his next e-mail.

Last September our pet cat Oscar ran away from home and he never returned. Ever since then the kids have been bugging my husband and I to get them another cat. So since it’s almost summer we have decided to get them another cat. Getting the cat will be the cheap part. We will then have to purchase dishes, toys, food and maybe a cat condo. But, they really do miss their cat so I think that we will bite the bullet and get them a new one.

When my youngest son gets home from school today, he is going to be so…mad at me. Well he will be a little pleased until he kicks into what I’ve been up to today. Today was the day I decided to clean out his room. I threw out an entire garbage bag of old and broken toys. Now to him they are treasures, but to me, they were junk. He will be pleased that I cleaned his room (this means that he doesn’t have to), but he will be annoyed with the amount of stuff that he is now missing. Oh well, I guess he should have cleaned it himself if he wanted to keep everything.
Today was his day and tomorrow is his sister’s. So tomorrow I could quite possibly have another child annoyed with me. lol

Last night my youngest son was playing on the computer and you could tell that he was getting pretty frustrated. He was trying to download a game off the Internet, but because the computer memory on this computer is so bad, he wasn’t able to download the game he wanted to play. Kid’s games don’t normally take a lot of memory, so the memory on this computer must be really bad. So I’m thinking that we really need to upgrade the memory. I don’t think it will require a lot of upgrades, but after seeing his frustration last night, I know we need to do something.

Yesterday both of the kids brought home a permission slip to go on a field trip with their classes. The funny thing about this was that although Daniel is in grade 2 and Kara is in grade 4, they are both going on the same field trip on the same day. Both of their slips were requesting parent drivers. So I filled them out and said that I would drive one child from one class and the other child from the other class. This worked out great for me as now I only have to take one trip with both children. What’s the chances of that ever happening again?? It’s kind of like a family outing now isn’t it??

Yesterday after school I took my daughter around the neighborhood to get some pledges for her upcoming fiddle-a-thon that will take place this Saturday. We only ended up going to three houses as most of the people we know weren’t home. And, the other people in the neighborhood don’t know Kara so I didn’t want to ask them to pledge her. But she did good. The three houses that we did go to, gave her pledges. Between this and family members, she did quite well for her first time asking for pledges. Now on Saturday she needs to play for 200 minutes to earn these pledges. But she is having fun with the entire experience and that’s the main thing.

Well it’s the weekend and the weather outside is pretty crappy. The kids won’t be able to go outside today as it’s pouring rain and it’s really quite cold out. So I have to find them something to do in the house. Two little people between the ages of 9 and 7 can get bored quite easily and it can sometimes be quite a chore to find things to keep them busy. But, I think I have come up with a solution. I have hooked up their computer for them to play some online games on. The only problem with this solution is there is only one computer, so that means a little bit of fighting. But we will see if my idea works.
