Still house hunting

Well now that we have officially started our house hunting, I have been in contact with several different mortgage lenders. As this is the first time that we have tried to acquire a mortgage, I am really unsure as to what the process is. I know that a person should really get a few quotes so that is why I have contacted several lenders. Whoever gives us the best deal with the least hassle will probably be the company that we end up going with. Although this process is highly confusing, it is also extremely exciting. But I can’t wait until it’s all said and done and we are finally moved into our own little home.

Problems with getting older

As my 40th birthday approaches rather quickly (May 9), it has gotten me to thinking about some of the challenges and problems we face as we get older. One problem that I have discovered over recent years is that my memory is pretty much shot. My long term memory seems to be what the problem is. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or if there are some things in my past that I choose not to remember. It’s not a great big deal, but it would sure be nice if I could buy memory and be able to remember a lot more things that have happened in my past. But since this isn’t likely to happen I’ll just have to be happy with the memories that I do still have.

A little sad tonight

Tomorrow my oldest son will turn 19.  His turning 19 doesn’t make me sad.  But him being so far away from home on his birthday does.  Last May he moved out on he this own quite far away and we haven’t actually seen him since last July.  This will be the first birthday that we haven’t celebrated as a family and I guess that’s why I’m a little sad tonight.  Just thinking that he won’t be around around and the two younger kids won’t get to see him on his birthday will take a little getting used to.  But I’m sure he will have a wonderful day and I’m sure I will hear all about it in his next e-mail.

Did you know??

So I was tagged by Jenn to do this meme about 10 things you may not know about me. Well here we go. I hope you find these little items about me interesting or even amusing.

1. While I was growing up, I never wanted to have kids (I wouldn’t even babysit), and now I have three.

2. I have been married three times (third times the charm).

3. I have held a lot of jobs over the years, but the most memorable one would have been catching chickens.

4. Although I’m not quite 40, I am grayer than my grandmother (she’s 86) and have been going gray since I was 16.

5. I have a marketing diploma from the community college but never worked in that field as I discovered that I hated it.

6. Although I am a girl, I don’t own a dress, slip or shoes.

7. I don’t wear make-up, but own a ton of it.

8. I just got my driver’s license the year I turned 35.

9. In high school I failed home ec three times, but my favorite hobby today is creating crafts.

10. And…although you all know me as Kim, that’s not my name. My first name is….

Now I get to tag five people. If you want to do the meme that’s great, just make sure you leave me a comment here so I can go find out all about you. The five people I’m tagging are Carrie, Tammy, Lynne, Ellen, and Sting.

Have fun guys!!

So…It looks like were buying a mini van

For the past year my husband and I have been discussing purchasing a “cheap” truck.  We had decided to sell my car (it’s the least expensive of the two) and take that money with a little extra and buy the truck.  So you can imagine my complete surprise when I got home from taking my daughter to her fiddle-a-thon (another post) and he informed me that him and my son purchased a van.  He had decided to trade in his car for this van.  Although I don’t think we need a van (8 passenger), it’s something he wants so what the heck.

I will still have my car so I can still go where I need to.  I don’t drive his car any way, so not driving this newer vehicle won’t bother me in the least.  But, I did want a truck and I thought we were getting a truck.  See what happens when I leave him home on his own for four hours. lol

The future is scary

In less than a month I will be turning 40. And I have to say that I can’t ever remember in my life time people having so many addiction problems and communities needing so many drug rehabs as we need now. It seems like every time you hear the news or pick up a newspaper someone has done something quite serious because of drug addictions. This really scares me. I have two small children that I am trying to bring up right and with so many temptations out there now, I honestly get frightened thinking about what troubles they could find themselves in. I realize that we need all these drug rehab centers, but sometimes I do sit and wonder how many more we will end up needing in the near future.

I’m going to have to do something

It’s been almost a year since I quit my full time job to become a stay at home and boy do my savings accounts ever reflect that. I’m going to have to do something drastic here if my accounts don’t start to fatten up again. I have never been this broke and I know it’s because of the loss of income plus loss of tips. My husband is not concerned about this sitauation at all, but I am and I think soon, I’m going to have to do something about it.

It must be because I’m getting older

Growing up, I never knew what it was like to experience a headache. And..when other’s started talking about migraines, it seemed like a foreign word to me. Unfortunately that isn’t the case any longer. I don’t know if this is because I am getting older or what, but over the past couple of years I have been experiencing some massive migraine headaches. When I feel one coming on, I can’t get to my medication fast enough. I have heard about a different type of product called Botox for migraines and I really have to wonder if it works any better than what I currently take. If it does, I’m seriously going to think about investing in it.

I can feel one coming on now so I think I’ll step away from the computer for a while. See you all later.

I need a new bracelet

While I was growing up, we discovered that I have a lot of allergies to different medications. I did where a medical alert bracelet when I was younger, but over the years I’ve misplaced it and have never replaced it again. This got me to thinking about how this is not safe. If anything ever happened to me and I was unable to tell anyone of my allergies, I would be in major trouble. Some of my allergies are quite sever.

So I think that I really need to buy some medical alert jewelry to keep me safer. Because I have such small wrists and wearing anything on my wrists bothers me, I think I’m going to purchase a medical alert necklace. I’ve never worn one of these before, but I think in my case it may be more comfortable so then maybe I will wear it like I should.
