Spring activities

Well now that almost all the snow is gone from the roads and the fields the kids are getting quite anxious to get outside and get involved in all their spring activities. Last weekend we bought them each a brand new bike so they are quite excited about getting outside and getting on those bikes. Then of course my son is looking forward to the soccer and softball season that it right ahead. Although he enjoys playing both sports, he is extremely fond of softball as it gives him the opportunity to try to win a few softball trophies. It was an extremely long winter in our area this year, so the kids are really looking forward to a lot of outside time. Now, if this rain would just go away, they would be a couple of happy campers.

Father’s day

Lately my husband has been watching a lot of golf on TV with our youngest son. In 15 years he has never shown an interest in the game so him sitting in front of the TV on a Sunday afternoon watching really surprised me. But now that I know that he is starting to have an interest in the sport, I gives me an excellent idea on what to buy him for Father’s day. I have decided to purchase him some Callaway irons so he can actually play the game instead of just watching it. He has made a couple hints about this so I think this type of gift will be a huge hit.

They went skating!

The kids in our area are extremely fortunate to have access to our local rink during school time. Every year each class goes skating at the rink at least four times. With two kids in school, that means eight (early) trips to the rink each season. This year I was really lucky and both of the kids first skates were yesterday morning. For the first time in three years, both of their classes were on the ice together. The kids were really excited about the thoughts of this and they had made plans to skate together the entire time they were on the ice. This didn’t happen. My daughter is a faster skater than my son so she kept taking off on him. But that was OK with him as he has a blast skating by himself. I did manage to get them together for one picture so I was happy. Thankfully I took the picture when I did, as five minutes later my son fell on the ice, hurt his head and was done skating for the day. (He is OK). This opportunity won’t come again this year, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it may happen again next year.
