Problems with getting older

As my 40th birthday approaches rather quickly (May 9), it has gotten me to thinking about some of the challenges and problems we face as we get older. One problem that I have discovered over recent years is that my memory is pretty much shot. My long term memory seems to be what the problem is. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or if there are some things in my past that I choose not to remember. It’s not a great big deal, but it would sure be nice if I could buy memory and be able to remember a lot more things that have happened in my past. But since this isn’t likely to happen I’ll just have to be happy with the memories that I do still have.

Going shopping

The kids are home from school today so I have decided that them and I will take a little trip down to our local garden center to purchase some garden decor. The inside of our home is almost completely renovated now so I need to start working on our outside space. I’m looking at purchasing some planters and I would also like to take a closer look at their outside fountains. So hopefully I’ll find some items I like and then our outside space will look at nice as the inside space does.

Jewelry update

So I thought I would give you all an update on how I’m doing with my homemade jewelry creations. I have quite a few pieces made and I plan to start selling them at my father in law’s upcoming garage sales. I have tried to sell them via the Internet, but haven’t seen very many sales through this method. I think part of the problem is that when your selling off the Internet, the pictures just don’t do the pieces justice. And then of course you have to add shipping charges to all your prices, so the pieces become a little more expensive. So I will try to sell them in person to people and see how I make out with this course of action. I can’t do any worse then I’m doing right now. So hopefully I will do better.

Internet burn out

I have been working from home on the Internet for a little over two years now.  I have to say that I am really enjoying being able to earn a little extra money while being home to raise my two youngest children.  But I have to say that lately I am starting to feel a little burnt out from spending so much time on the Internet.  Lately when I get up the last thing I want to do is turn on my computer, but the very first thing I do is turn on my computer.  I know that if I don’t sit at the computer and write posts, I won’t get paid and this stays on my mind as long as I am not on the computer.  I’m seriously starting to think about taking a small break from all my computer work.  Or I may even just try to spend less time per day on the computer.  Either way, I have to do something before I get totally burnt out.

A little sad tonight

Tomorrow my oldest son will turn 19.  His turning 19 doesn’t make me sad.  But him being so far away from home on his birthday does.  Last May he moved out on he this own quite far away and we haven’t actually seen him since last July.  This will be the first birthday that we haven’t celebrated as a family and I guess that’s why I’m a little sad tonight.  Just thinking that he won’t be around around and the two younger kids won’t get to see him on his birthday will take a little getting used to.  But I’m sure he will have a wonderful day and I’m sure I will hear all about it in his next e-mail.

Were getting another cat

Last September our pet cat Oscar ran away from home and he never returned. Ever since then the kids have been bugging my husband and I to get them another cat. So since it’s almost summer we have decided to get them another cat. Getting the cat will be the cheap part. We will then have to purchase dishes, toys, food and maybe a cat condo. But, they really do miss their cat so I think that we will bite the bullet and get them a new one.

Packing things up

Well since we have plans to move, I have started looking for shipping boxes to start packing up all our stuff. I find shipping boxes are a lot better and sturdier than normal cardboard boxes. And since I don’t know exactly how long all our stuff will be in these boxes, I wanted to make sure that they are packed in the very best containers that they can be. Although this is a lot of work for me (I do all my packing when the kids are at school and my husband is at work), I am so excited to be finally moving, that I don’t mind the extra work.

Major cleaning spree

When my youngest son gets home from school today, he is going to be so…mad at me.   Well he will be a little pleased until he kicks into what I’ve been up to today.  Today was the day I decided to clean out his room.  I threw out an entire  garbage bag of old and broken toys.  Now to him they are treasures, but to me, they were junk.  He will be pleased that I cleaned his room (this means that he doesn’t have to), but he will be annoyed with the amount of stuff that he is now missing.  Oh well, I guess he should have cleaned it himself if he wanted to keep everything.

Today was his day and tomorrow is his sister’s.  So tomorrow I could quite possibly have another child annoyed with me. lol

We need to upgrade

Last night my youngest son was playing on the computer and you could tell that he was getting pretty frustrated. He was trying to download a game off the Internet, but because the computer memory on this computer is so bad, he wasn’t able to download the game he wanted to play. Kid’s games don’t normally take a lot of memory, so the memory on this computer must be really bad. So I’m thinking that we really need to upgrade the memory. I don’t think it will require a lot of upgrades, but after seeing his frustration last night, I know we need to do something.
